Camarón de Mariachi

This little guy was a quick sketch that I did while down in Mazatlan, Mexico before we went to eat at a restaurant called the Shrimp Bucket.

Purrcasso '09

I recently finished my entries for this years Purrcasso Art and Craft Gala. For those who don't know, Purrcasso is an art and craft auction that benefits the Berkeley-East Bay Humane Society in Berkeley, CA. I stumbled upon it in my internet wanderings and thought it would be a great thing to contribute to. I'm all for helping dogs and cats in need.

Check out the website if you are interested: http://purrcasso.org/

Here are my two submissions for this year, both watercolor

Inuit Killer whale

I have always thought native Inuit designs were very visually striking. One day I had a thought that a cartoon style killer whale might look cool covered in Inuit designs. The first killer whale I started just ended up as a standard killer whale....no designs. But when I finally got some reference and started working it out more this is what I came up with.

komodo dragon

I didn't intend this one to be a girl. But it felt kind of feminine to me...so a girl it became.
"How do tell if its a girl?" I hear you ask....because it has eyelashes of course. I thought lipstick would be a little to much.
Come to think of it I don't do feminine looking animals enough. I will have to put that on my list of things to do for future animals.

Egyptian Vulture

I'm back from a nice relaxing beach trip to Mazatlan. It was a nice break...but I didn't take a break from sketching. Ill have some of those ready to post soon. In the meantime, here is a stylized Egyptian vulture I did a little while ago.
