The Horrorpops

This is the start of a design that I had in my head as a little tribute to one of my favorite bands, the Horrorpops.

The more realistic one done at the L.A. Zoo and the other was a memory drawing done at home.

Monkey Business

This one started out as a random sketch in my sketchbook that I decided I would color in Photoshop instead of using the markers I usually use.

Too big for one page

I started this guy with the intention of not drawing his head....but after I finished I just couldnt leave him headless, so I finished him on the next page.

Nothing but trouble....

This was just a quick sketch I had done one day and I thought it was pretty funny, so I decided to throw a little color into it.

Misc. Zoo Drawings

Here are a few misc animal drawings to keep with the animal drawing theme. The Bongo was done at the L.A.Zoo and the others were done at the Melbourne Zoo in Australia.

The Daily Zoo

Recently I was lucky enough to stumble upon a great art book called The Daily Zoo: Keeping the Doctor at Bay with a Drawing a Day by Chris Ayers. Not only is it an awesome sketchbook of animal drawings, but also an inspirational story.
It came along at just the right moment when I was really looking to get back into drawing and sketching on a regular basis and really inspired me to get off my butt and draw more.
If you are looking for a great animal drawing book to inspire you to draw more, or just plain have a book to flip through and look at some great animal drawings then I highly recommend checking it out!

Now that I have a daily zoo of my own going (Day 65 and going strong!) I will be working to post as many animal drawings as I can here.
Here are a few of my recent ones to get things started.

Made for Each Other

Voodoo Girl

While I am on a roll here I might as well post another project that I am currently working on. This is just a little design that I doodled in my sketchbook one day and I liked it so much I decided to finish it out. Here is the preliminary sketch as well as the cleaned up line work. I am working on the color version now and will post more as it is finished.

Skeleton Ballerina

This is some of the preliminary line work for a design that I am currently working on. Eventually it will be full body and color. Ill post more images of it as it is completed.

Lets get this party started!

Ok, here we go....My first post on my new art blog. This is really just a test. Actual artwork to follow!
